A large part of my training and, subsequently, commercial focus is on usability. Rigorous user testing is a vital part of ensuring a site’s commercial success as users will leave a website that is misleading or frustrating within seconds. Their expectations are rising all the time.
It is very important to me that my sites are consistent in layout and functionality, that animation is used appropriately and optimized in accordance with the user’s set up. It is also important that the emphasis is placed on both the client’s requirement and the user, their OS, connection speed, lifestyle, expectations and habits – in my experience the key to achieving this balance is communication and planning.
